Your 6 Step Pathway to Becoming ABTC Recognised
At the International Institute for Canine Ethics (IICE), our mission has always been to champion welfare-first, ethical practice for both dogs and the professionals who work with them. This commitment is why we are proud to serve as an Assessing Organisation for the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). The ABTC is the regulatory body in the UK that sets the standards for training and behaviour professionals, ensuring that only those who meet rigorous criteria of knowledge, skill, and compassion are recognised. Their register is the only one built upon independently defined role standards, giving dog owners confidence that they are working with practitioners who place welfare, evidence, and humane methods at the heart of their practice.

Being entrusted as an ABTC Assessing Organisation is a responsibility we take seriously. We believe that recognition through the ABTC is not just a credential, but a public statement of professional integrity.
By providing clear, transparent, and supportive pathways to assessment, IICE ensures that our members are not only prepared to meet ABTC standards, but also supported every step of the way. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of fairness, quality assurance, and professional support, because we know that the work our members do has a direct impact on the lives of dogs and their families. For us, this is not about ticking boxes – it is about raising the bar for the profession and safeguarding the welfare of the animals at the centre of it.
